Shanghai - Magnetic Levitation train

travelbug | 17 Mar, 2006, 08:06 | videos | (5386 Reads)

My first experience in China was awesome. Forget the French TGV and the Japanese Shinkansen, the Magnetic Levitation train of Shanghai is something of another world. It goes at an amazing speed of up to 430 Kmh!!!

See the Video, and get an idea of what it is like to fly on a train. Yes, actually you fly, because the wheels (doesn't have) do not touch the rails. Very strong magnetic fields make the whole train levitate. That is whay they call it Magnetic Levitation Train (or Maglev).

Enjoyed your Maglev video. I'm just back from Shanghai and rode it my last day, out to the airport. I've included a link to the blog from my trip. Enjoy your stay, I thought it was a fantastic place and can't wait to go back. Be sure to check Xianyang market, Xiantiandi and the Old City if you have time

I rode the train in March and it was a wonderful experience.

Here is a link to the video I shot on the ride.

That train sure kicks ass. Shot a video myself when I went to Shanghai this summer: http://eng.gardebring.com/viewphoto/59.html
